BSA has one of the premier Islamic finance and investment practices in the region. Our firm’s experience with Islamic finance dates back to its very inception when we set up a separate Islamic Finance Department within our Banking and Finance Group of which Imran is a key member. Since joining BSA Imran has devoted substantially all his time to Shari’ah-compliant finance and investment transactions. Imran along with the other team members has in depth knowledge of this area and has been involved in numerous transactions including formation of Shari’ah-compliant property funds that have invested throughout the MENA region. Imran regularly deals with Islamic and conventional financial institutions, merchant and investment banks, venture capital funds, fund sponsors and family investment companies. Imran and his team are committed to providing our clients with innovative, efficient and practical solutions to issues that arise in Shari’ah-compliant financing and investment transactions. Imran has done his LL.M. from Georgetown University in Securities and Financial Regulations. Prior to that he did his LL.B. (Hons.) from Buckingham University and was called to the Bar in 1997 in the UK. He was also admitted to the Bar in 1998 in Pakistan.

  • Advising on a US$ 100 million real estate fund in Dubai;
  • Advising on a US$ 25 million real estate fund;
  • Advised banks on various financing agreements including drafting of security documents;
  • Drafted various Islamic financing agreements including Ijarah and Morabaha
  • Negotiated a Telecommunication Equipment Contract with an American company registered in New Jersey, as part of setting up.
